BEST PLACES TO CELEBRATE CINCO DE MAYO IN LOS ANGELES

Despite prepping for summer with tea, juice and sugar detoxes, Angelenos everywhere are celebrating Cinco De Mayo in one of the best ways possible: enjoying Mexican-inspired food and drinks. Still don’t have plans? Don’t worry. We’ve rounded up some of our favorite local spots to celebrate Cinco De Mayo.

CIncodeMayoBorder Grill

Border Grill is offering drink and food specials at both of its locations in Downtown L.A. and Santa Monica. In downtown, this includes al pastor tacos, chicharrones (if you haven’t tasted chicharrones, you haven’t lived), grilled corn and churros for $5. You can also splurge with unlimited tastes and a border margarita for $30 per person. In Santa Monica, specials include $4 specials in the cantina and $6 sangria. For more information, visit their site at www.bordergrill.com.

Lotería Grill

The Lotería Grill locations in Santa Monica, Studio City and Hollywood are offering Margarita Feliz 2 for $10 all day, regular happy hour menu and live music (Mariachis anyone?). You can also visit their Lotería Grill Farmers Market for all-day happy hour and 20% off all appetizers including taquitos, quesadillas and nachos. Visit www.loteriagrill.com for more information.

Gracias Madre

Gracias Madre is featuring new drink and food specials in honor of the holiday. The plant-based Mexican restaurant already boasts impressive guacamole and tamales as well as its boozy concoctions. So, we’re sure their Cinco De Mayo efforts will aim to please.

Let’s not forget about the somewhat cliché, yet always-a-good-time spot – Cabo Cantina. With locations from Hollywood to Santa Monica, Cabo Cantina is offering a few different drink specials. Coronitas are available all day for 99 cents until they run out (lunch plans, anyone?). Furthermore, all drinks are part of a special 2-for-1 price from 4-8 p.m.

¡Fiesta at FIG!

FIGat7th will be debuting their outdoor cocktail service with delicious drink specials including micheladas, margaritas and Coronas! With festivities in the Courtyard from 3pm to 9pm, plus food from Loteria Grill from $5- $7, and $9 margaritas and micheladas from a special, outdoor, pop-up bar. City Tavern will be slinging Mexican-style craft beer and ice cold Coronas on their patio.  A slate of live DJs–Tonearm, DJ LEE, and Miss Sunny Z– plus a make your own piñata workshop with DIY experts Makers Mess adult arts & crafts will round out the action at DTLA’s most vibrant, outdoor Cinco de Mayo celebration.
Stop by earlier in the day to enjoy La Victoria, a strolling, three-piece, female mariachi band, from 11:30am to 1:30pm.
