Once again, Catalina Film Festival did not disappoint! The island, the accommodations, and of course, the films have us wishing we could go back in time and relive this weekend all over again.
We boarded the Catalina Express and set sail for three days of films and fun in the sun!
Once on the island we checked into the Hotel Metrpole which serves as home base for the festival headquarters and all of the nightly events and parties! This hotel is absolutely stunning and the premiere place to stay when on the island. We had a stunning view of the ocean and the iconic Avalon Theater as we got ready for our screenings and red carpet coverage. The hotel features shops, dining, and the concierge was fantastic at recommending activities to do in our down time which included snorkeling and visiting Descanso Beach.
The festival featured more than 90 great films including features, shorts, animation, documentaries and more. We had the chance to speak with many of the filmmakers and awards honorees at the nightly red carpets. One of our favorite interviews was with Actress Jaime King who was presented with the Avalon Award honoring “an actor who’s unafraid to enter Hollywood’s unchartered waters while taking risks with their career.” You can watch all of our red carpet interviews above! As usual, the festival was the perfect way to end Summer and kick off awards season! We even caught a stunning sunset on the ride back to Los Angeles. We can’t wait to return next year.
