GOLDEN GLOBES STYLELAB SHOWCASES AWARDS SEASON JEWELRY

Thanks to TV personality and celebrity stylist, Michael O’Connor, Golden Globe nominees and presenters get to wear some exquisite jewelry for the award ceremony. O’Connor hosted a StyleLab event this week for the talent and their stylists at a private location in Los Angeles.

Every season, O’Connor curates a stunning selection of unique jewelry pieces from world-renowned designers for celebrities to borrow to the award shows. Press Pass LA got a special look at this season’s collection and if there were one word to describe it all, sparke would definitely be it!

Here is what O’Connor is featuring for the start of the 2014 award show season:

Emeralds– No doubt an emerald is always an elegant choice and this year designer Takat’s breath-taking necklace with 71.73 carats of oval and round emeralds, mixed with 8.34-carats of round white diamonds and 10.43 of fancy white diamonds screams elegance. Priced at almost half a million dollars, O’Connor says this gem suits a statuesque star like Nicole Kidman. There were also more jaw-dropping emeralds mixed with white diamonds by Farah Khan, whose beautiful bracelet was featured at the event.

Black Hues– From deep black gemstones to blackened metal, there were some great pieces of hue jewelry, which O’Connor says creates a dramatic effect on the red carpet. Designer Dena Kemp showcased a pair of earrings with 11.57 carats of black Burmese jade that O’Connor says would look spectacular on actress Jennifer Lawrence. There were also a pair of black diamond earrings, priced at $37,000, that include a vintage-inspired aesthetic, by Paula Crevoshay.

Statement Earrings– This season, O’Connor says designers are reinterpreting traditional chandelier earrings by adding bold gemstones, mixing metals, and creating unique shapes. Designer Fei Lu debuted a pair of large earrings featuring green garnet, amethyst and diamonds, set in black gold. Sofia Vegara is imagined to be wearing these earrings, priced at $12,000.

Historicial Pieces– Even with all the gorgeous new jewelry, the StyleLab event still included some old Hollywood glamour for this season’s red carpet with the Jewelry by Gail collection, which featured vintage hair combs/pins once owned by the one and only Marilyn Monroe.

One thing is certain from Michael O’Connor’s collection at the StyleLab event, whoever will be “sparkling” themselves with it will look like Hollywood royalty!
