HBO’s ‘Here and Now’ Premiere: Interviews with Exec. Producer Alan Ball, Tim Robbins, Holly Hunter and cast!

Oscar® and Emmy®winner, Alan Ball, is back at it again with a new series for HBO, Here and Now. After the success of Six Feet Under and True Blood, we can’t wait to see what his latest project, starring Tim Robbins and Holly Hunter, has in store.

Oscar® and Golden Globe winner Tim Robbins and Oscar®, Emmy® and Golden Globe winner  Holly Hunter headline this dark family comedy, with an equally talented ensemble cast.

The show is a provocative and darkly comic meditation on the disparate forces polarizing present-day American culture, as experienced by  the members of a progressive multi-ethnic family – a philosophy professor and his wife (Robbins and Hunter) living in Portland, their adopted children from Vietnam (Raymond Lee), Liberia (Jerrika Hinton) and Colombia (Daniel Zovatto), and their sole biological child (Sosie Bacon) – and a contemporary Muslim family, headed by a psychiatrist (Peter Macdissi) who is treating one of their children.   Their own son Navid (Marwan Salama) identifies as genderfluid.

The show tackles many of the timely themes currently making headlines daily including xeno- and homophobia, immigration, mental illness, diversity, the family structure, and more all while embracing a tone that is still light-hearted and endearing.   Ball described the show as a slow burn taking time to develop each character and revealing a bit more of their story and POV in the world throughout the 10 episode first season.

We were excited to attend the red carpet premiere of this show which was held at the Directors Guild of America in Hollywood and debuts this Sunday, February 11th on HBO.

Check out our interview with the full cast here! One of our FAV red carpet moments was actually off the side of the carpet seeing Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick cheering on and taking pictures of their daughter Sosie Bacon (who plays Kristen)…our hearts melted a little.

Let us know what you think of the premiere on Sunday night in the comments below.
