Rap artist-turned-country music star Nelly hosted the Foot Locker Presents Celebrity Sweat Charity event as part of the 21st annual Espy Awards. The charity event and after-party raised money for the East Los Angeles Boys and Girls Club, who are in need of new and improved fitness equipment. Press Pass LA was invited to attend the exclusive event which was held at The Palm Restaurant in downtown L.A.

The event was attended by well known athletes and celebrities in entertainment including: Deion Sander (NFL legend), Matt Barnes (LA Clippers), Adrienne Bailon & Julissa Bermudez (Empire Girls), Sean Patrick Thomas (Save The Last Dance), Lonnie Love (Chelsea Lately), Terry Crews (Arrested Development), Steven Bauer (Iron Man), Billy Blanks (fitness trainer), Kyla Deaver (The Conjuring), Quinton Aaron (The Blind Side), Kyle Massey (Disney Channel), Brett Lockett (NY Jets), and many more!

The host of the lavish event was none other than football legend Deion Sanders, who was joined on the red carpet by his new girlfriend Tracy Edmonds. Deion discussed with us how he became involved with the Celebrity Sweat Charity saying, “Growing up we didn’t have too many organizations that allowed us to be active and productive, so The Boys and Girls Club is a great and long running organization that needs help, and we’re blessed enough to come together and give back to the youth”.

When asked about his best fitness tips for someone on the go, Arrested Development’s Terry Crews explained to us, “Eat healthy, eat healthy, eat healthy! That is the most important part of fitness because that’s half the work it takes to get into shape!” Terry truly is the perfect person to take fitness advice from (have you seen his abs?)

Nelly, who is the face of the Celebrity Sweat campaign, took pictures with many of the guest in attendance and later handed out Celebrity Sweat logo t-shirts and other fun goodies. The guest were also treated to drinks and food prepared specifically for the event by the luxurious Palms Restaurant. An auction was later held to raise money in support of the Boys and Girls club of East Los Angeles, which we hear raised a lot of money for the cause! It’s great to see celebrities and athletes give back to the community and invest in the future of our youth.
