Hollywood Reporter has dropped that Distributor A24 is nearing a deal to acquire domestic distribution rights to Lynn Shelton’s Laggies. The film, which despite its blackout during Friday’s Premiere, stars Chloe Grace Moretz and Keira Knightley & has been one of the Sundance Film Festival’s most high-profile pics.
Sources peg the purchase price at around $2 million for North American rights, which will include a theatrical release. The sixth feature from writer/director Shelton after 2012’s Your Sister’s Sister, which premiered at the 2012 festival, and Touchy Feely, which premiered at last year’s fest.
Laggies is written by Andrea Seigel, and also stars Sam Rockwell, Ellie Kemper, Jeff Garlin and Mark Webber. Laggies, produced by Alix Madigan-Yorkin, Steve Golin, Rosalie Swedlin and Myles Nestel, premiered at Eccles Theatre on Jan. 17 as part of Sundance’s Premieres category. Paul Green, Jennifer Roth, Lisa Wilson, Shawn Simpson, Gordon Bijelonic and Craig Chapman exec produced.
