It was indeed a glorious night to be attending the 2013 Artists In Music Awards this past Thursday, February 7th. It was an evening where some of music’s biggest underground names came out to support their fellow artists and be honored for their talents. The awards show was established to entertain, recognize and represent emerging artists from all across the world and was the perfect kick-off to a weekend that included The Grammys.
Press Pass LA was able to speak with some of the industry’s most talented up & coming artists. Independent labels from countries as far as Denmark and Spain came out to support their musicians. In fact, we had the pleasure of speaking with one of the biggest internationally known bands, The Controversy, with members Laura Vall and Thomas Hjorth. Laura said that it was an “honor to have won the 2012 Artist of the Year award.” Guitarist and vocalist Thomas Hjorth told us “ it was great to be here in Hollywood, coming from Denmark. We are currently recording our second album.” The Controversy is known for their powerful lyrics and moving yet captivating music. The band also won “Best Alternative Song of the Year 2012″ at the Hollywood Music In Media Awards for their single “Real”. We are now a huge fan!
In addition, we were honored to snag an interview with the beautiful and extremely talented artist, GlitterRose. GlitterRose has held residency at the Hardrock Hotel and Café from March to July 2012. GlitterRose was a two-time winner at the 2013 Artists In Music Awards for Best Rock Artist and Album of the Year for Dead or Alive. When we spoke with her, she said that winning was an “honor to receive this many awards.”
The show included performances by artists Leave It To Us, Haster, John Cassese, Travis Royce and Cheating Daylight, and more. ,All of the musicians were incredibly humble and the performances rocked.
We were especially blown away by the Brooklyn based band, Ko-Lition who won for Best Hip Hop Artist. They totally lit up the stage. Being a reporter originally from Brooklyn, it was nice to see a hometown band come out with such a bang! They are an extremely talented duo and if you enjoy the sounds of Lupe Fiasco and the electro soul vibe, you will certainly enjoy them.
It was wonderful night to celebrate music and Press Pass LA looks forward to more spectacular events from and L.A.A.C.I. (Los Angeles Awards Show Coalition Incorporated). For the full list of winners visit AIMMusicAwards.com
