ALL THE LOS ANGELES AWARDS SEASON EVENTS POSTPONED DUE TO THE WILDFIRES

With the tragic wildfires that have damaged our beloved city, and the Palisades and Eaton fires only partially contained, many awards season events have been postponed or pushed indefinitely.

Here’s the list of major shows affected and what the industry can expect.

Critic’s Choice Awards– being hosted by comedian Chelsea Handler for the third time was postponed from Sunday, January 12 to Sunday, January 26.

The Oscars- The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, whose members were still voting on their picks for this year’s Oscars when the fires broke out, were given extra time to vote and the nominees announcement was postponed from Friday, January 17 to Thursday, January 23.

The SAG Awards in-person announcement for this year’s nominees was canceled, but the nominations were still announced online.

The Producers Guild has pushed nomination announcements for its PGA Awards from Sunday, January 12 to Thursday January 16th.

The Writers Guild of America (West & East) announced that they would be postponing their nominations announcement until further notice (as of January 13th.)

The American Society of Cinematographers’ nominations for the ASC Awards have been postponed until further notice.

The AARP’s Movies for Grownups Awards, originally scheduled for Saturday, January 11, has been postponed until further notice.

The Grammy Awards will currently air as planned on February 2nd but the usually festivities around the event have been toned down. The Recording Academy also donated $1 million to relief efforts! The Warner Music Group Grammy Party was canceled — the company also donated $1 million to fire relief and rebuilding efforts via its Warner Music Group/Blavatnik Family Foundation Social Justice Fund.Also canceled outright is the Universal Music Group Grammys 2025 Artist Showcase and Post-Grammy Party.
