Peter Jackson has set a high bar with blockbuster adaptations of both The Lord of The Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. Now, Amazon studios is setting a new bar for a serialized take, and over 500 million into a book series that has stood the test of time.
The highly-anticipated epic fantasy series will debut on Amazon Prime Video on Sept. 2, 2022, with new episodes dropping weekly after its debut. Filming was completed on the first season of the show on August 2 in New Zealand. Amazon has also released the first official image from the series, which can be seen above. As of now, very little is known about the plot of the series to date. amazon hasn’t even revealed the official title, but it is known that it will take place during the “Second Age”, thousands of years prior to the events of both “The Lord of the Rings” books and “The Hobbit.” The series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-Earth.
The cast includes Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry, Nazanin Boniadi, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Charles Edwards, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Lloyd Owen, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, Daniel Weyman, and Sara Zwangobani.
Our guess is the character in the image is Lord Elrond. What is yours?
