Levan Tsikurishvili, director of the Oscar-buzzing documentary AVICII: TRUE STORIES announced the film’s USA premiere is confirmed for a limited theatrical run in Los Angeles at the Laemmle Music Hall Theater December 14-20, and in New York at Cinema Village,December 21-27.
AVICII: TRUE STORIES focuses on the incredible rise of Avicii (a.k.a Tim Bergling) one of the world’s most successful electronic music artists of all time whose tragic death on April 20th this year left fans and the music industry grieving. The film reveals the unvarnished truth behind the success of the pioneering GRAMMY nominated producer, songwriter and artist and his seemingly sudden decision last year to quit doing live shows. From his humble beginnings, to his meteoric rise, the film documents not only the success Avicii had, but also his struggles with physical and emotional health and the overwhelming pressures that come with global success.
Featuring appearances by colleagues including Chris Martin, Nile Rodgers, David Guetta and Wyclef Jean, Tsikurishvili follows Avicii over four years, and emerges with a cautionary tale that explores the taxing nature and intensity of fame from the artist’s point of view.
