Press Pass LA attended the Writers Guild of America West Awards on February 14th and had the privilege of checking out the Backstage Creations official gifting lounge taking place backstage at the ceremonies at the Hyatt Century Plaza.
The WGA Awards honors the tireless work of the writers who create the characters and stories behind the movies we love each awards season! Here’s how Backstage Creations Celebrity Retreat showed them appreciation.
Guest took home items including:
A copy of The Art of Having It All: A Woman’s Guide to Unlimited Abundance by best-selling author Christy Whitman. The author was on hand to chat with guests about her book and discuss what ‘having it all’ means to them. Actor, Terry Crews, said that having it all means “having his loving family,” while actress, Abigail Spencer, happily declared that she thinks all women can have it all if they set their minds to it.
Modern Family’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson has a line of amazing bow ties which were featured in the lounge at “Tie The Knot for The Tie Bar.” These bow ties are the perfect way to stand out and show your individuality at an awards show full of black tie tuxes! Scandal writer and creator, Shonda Rhimes, stopped by The Tie Bar, exclaiming, “My gay husband will love this!” Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s, Chelsea Peretti, immediately picked up one of the bow ties saying, “I’m grabbing one of these for my boyfriend!”
LG Electronics featured their LG TONE ULTRATM bluetooth headphones and we spotted Parks and Recreation’s Adam Scott looking beyond excited to receive a pair! Actor, Terry Crews also snagged a pair saying, “These will be great for working out.”
With all this swag, celebrities were lucky The Container Store gifted a piece of Eagle Creek luggage to role out your bag of goodies! Top talent inlcuding Ben Affleck, Scott Foley, Shonda Rhimes and more autographed one piece which will be donated to raise funds for the Writers Guild Foundation.
It wouldn’t be the WGA without a good script! AT-A-GLANCE used one of their 2015 Weekly Planners and had celebrity talent put pen to paper and each write down one line of text to create a full story. The planner will also be donated to raise funds for the Writers Guild Foundation.
The lounge wouldn’t be complete without a toast! Cougar Town co-creator, Bill Lawrence, entered the Celebrity Retreat and immediately joked, “So where’s that bar?” Lucky for him, mixologists were on hand! Bob Saget couldn’t wait to try Los Arango Tequila, one of the drinks featured at the Royal Wine bar.
Guests also received a gift bag that featured custom coasters by Invitation Consultants, hand tossed caramel corn from Johnson’s Popcorn, a chocolate & peanut butter snack from Justin’s Organic Peanut Butter Cups, superfood blends from Linwoods Health Foods, and a 3 Month unlimited membership to SoCal Hot Yoga. The perfect gifts for good health and a long day at the computer scribing next year’s top screenplays!
