It is inevitable that history sometimes repeats itself.  The Roaring 20’s was a time of great advancement in technology, production of fast cars, economic growth, emergence from a devastating pandemic, and the birth of speakeasies where the libations were flowing and the entertainment was booming.

We are seeing that today in this new decade of the 20’s with art expanding into the digital NFT space, nearly every carmaker going electric, the emergence of cryptocurrency, post-COVID openings, and the return of the speakeasy!

Bathtub Gin is tucked away behind a secret entrance- don’t walk by too fast, or you’ll miss the door! Upon entering, you are welcomed into a secret lair with stunning interiors that lead you into a lounge filled with such decadence you can feel yourself transported into the 1920’s rather than 2020.

The new Prohibition-inspired speakeasy features exceptional craft cocktails, a unique and varied gin and tonic menu (with an expansive gin selection) and robust live entertainment. Located in West Hollywood at 7174 Melrose Avenue, it’s hidden above Stone Street LA, a working all-day café that opened in July and serves as the speakeasy’s “front.”

We checked out opening night and it was a pleasure to speak with owner, Dave Oz. He let us know this has been a labor of love for over four years to get the doors open in the City of Angels. He was beaming with pride showing us around the space and speaking with love in regards to the concept and vibe he intends to bring to LA, as well as future city openings for BathTub Gin.

His plan is to take BathTub Gin worldwide but never have two locations be the same. Oz told us that in New York, there is more of a faster paced bar feel whereas in Los Angeles it’s more of a lounge vibe. Don’t get him wrong though, the idea is to have the best time of your life even if that means you climb into the infamous bathtub located in the middle of the room. It’s encouraged and expected! Hey, if it’s good enough for Orlando Bloom to do, it’s good enough for us!

Bathtub Gin excels in its attention to details, including the flapper-like slip dresses worn by the cocktail servers, to the exquisite stemware. Of course the bar is stocked with the highest quality spirits, and don’t get us started on how varied the gin and tonic selection is…Calling all gin lovers! Did we mention the live nightly entertainment which includes Burlesque every Tuesday?

This is a perfect spot to ring in the New Year in style. For more information, please visit bathtubginla.com check them on Facebook or follow on Instagram at @bathtubginla
