Biggest Reveals From Disney’s D23 For Marvel and Star Wars

D23 gave Disney fans of all ages exciting reveals this past weekend! We’ve gathered up some of the biggest news including projects, cast reveals, and a dark theme park for those who crave all things villain.

Marvel Studios gave fans their first glimpse at phase 6 of the MCU. The reveals included a variety of exciting film, television, and casting announcements within the MCU during a panel at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, Calif., on Saturday. The presentation kicked off with a surprise performance from the cast of the fictional Rogers: The Musical  which fans will recognize from Hawk Eye’s tv show. The panel also featured a trailer for Disney+’s Werewolf By Night special featuring Gael García Bernal but also unveiled the official lineup of heroes that are set to star in the 2024 film The Thunderbolts. Don Cheadle will be bringing more of his character to the MCU when Marvel confirmed that the actor will also star in the upcoming Disney+ series Armor Wars and unveiled its new logo. A release date was not announced for this project as of now. Everything Everywhere All at Once star Ke Huy Quan is ready for some more fun in the multiverse. The former child star from Goonies and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (not to mention his reunion with Harrison Ford that spread like wild fire across the internet) will join season 2 of Loki as an employee of the Time Variance Authority when the show drops on Disney+ in summer 2023.

Speaking of Phase 6, it has officially been confirmed that WandaVision director Matt Shakman will return to direct Marvel’s highly-anticipated Fantastic Four reboot, which will kick off Phase 6 of the Multiverse Saga when it’s released on Nov. 8, 2024. Casting was also announced for the film. The panel for Saturday concluded with the cast announcement for the Thunderbolts. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige unveiled the all-star cast who will helm its 2024 film The Thunderbolts: Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), the Red Guardian (David Harbour), U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus).

At the event, Stan remarked that the assembled cast “look like a good, troubled bunch and Bucky knows a thing about that.” While Feige joked, “It tells you a lot about the team when beloved Winter Soldier is the most stable among them.”

Secret Invasion was one of the most exciting trailer debuts at the MCU panel. Could this be the series that rips the band-aid right off of the multiverse?

Marvel Studios also shared brand new adventures coming to Disneyland California for all MCU fans.

Star Wars recieved the royal treatment at D23 as well, with many announcements that had fans cheering, including a full length trailer for Andor. Andor takes place before the events of Rouge One for fans wondering where it falls in the timeline. The Diego Luna-led series is set to premiere on Disney+ on Sept. 21, the cast joined Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy on stage to debut the new full-length official trailer.

Baby Yoda fans, it’s your time to shine. D23 revealed a teaser trailer for the upcoming third season of The Mandalorian.

Star Wars fans have been waiting for Ashoka since her episode on The Mandalorian’s second season. D23 delivered exciting Ashoka news with not just her live action show but also revealing her presence in the upcoming Tales of the Jedi. Unfortunately, there was no new footage released of the upcoming Ahsoka live-action series starring Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano and Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren. Nor did Lucasfilm confirm reports that Eman Esfandi has joined the cast as Star Wars: Rebels‘ lost Jedi Ezra Bridger and that Hayden Christensen will appear as Anakin Skywalkerhimself. But, images were shared to the fans in attendance, and we’re all hoping to get more of the live action footage soon. In the meantime enjoy this breathtaking trailer for Tales of The Jedi.
