LA just got even more fashionable! Yesterday, Karen Marley (singer Bob Marley’s daughter) and Monique Aquino opened the doors to their new resale, designer consignment boutique, Buttons and Bows, in the fashion district of downtown Los Angeles.  Fashionistas came out to support and dig into their designer wallets to do some shopping! So did we!

Fortunately, we didn’t have to dig too deep because the boutique had some great pieces at very reasonable prices. What started off as just a blog, then a successful eBay business, finally turned into a brick and mortar boutique. The style duo looked fabulous and told me all about their five year journey of opening the store. When asked why they chose downtown as opposed to a different location, Karen said, “Downtown is up and coming, loads of restaurants and bars and we were like, why not?” Monique added, “I just recently moved downtown and there’s no resources to shop here. We’re in the fashion district so it makes sense”.

As I looked through the racks, I found loads of wonderful items that I wanted. They carry higher end designers such as: Marc Jacobs, Chloe, Prada, Sonia Rykiel, Miu Miu, Vena Cava and so many more. There were also nice vintage pieces and lower end brands such as Top Shop. I had my eye on a Marc Jacobs blouse for only $22! Some other pieces that stood out were: Marni brooches, beautiful vintage jewelry, embellished YSL wedges and Alexander Wang fringe heels.

Guests were treated to champagne and delicious brownies as they shopped til they dropped. The boutique itself was just as stylish as the clothes in it. In the center of the room was a table decorated with flowers and jewelry. A large, gold mirror hung on the wall. There were vintage perfume bottles on some of the shelves and the mannequins were immaculately dressed. I couldn’t leave without asking the most important question in fashion, “Who are you wearing?” Karen was wearing a chic, black, Helmut Lang dress with Miu Miu heels and a spiky, gold, Alexander McQueen bracelet. Monique looked amazing in a black, Style Stalker dress and Alaïa shoes. They described their style aesthetic as “very classy, creative and timeless” and it definitely showed.

There’s no doubt that Buttons and Bows will be a huge hit among celebrities and LA locals!
