The Writer’s Guild of America announced today that standup comedian, writer, and actor Joel Kim Booster will be hosting the 2025 Writers Guild Awards Los Angeles show at the Beverly Hilton on Saturday, February 15.
“Being a member of the WGA is one of my proudest accomplishments, bar none,” said Booster. “After the tough couple of years our union has faced, I’m honored to get to host a celebration of all the incredible work our members have produced.”
Booster wrote, produced, and starred in 2022’s Fire Island, earning him two Emmy nominations, a Film Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best First Screenplay and won best feature at the GLAAD Awards.
He starred opposite Maya Rudolph in two seasons of the Apple TV+ comedy Loot, in addition to guest roles in Shrill, Search Party, Big Mouth, and more. His first comedy special, Joel Kim Booster: Psychosexual, exploring his experiences and observations as a gay Asian-American man, debuted on Netflix in 2022, was nominated for a Critics Choice Award, and was named one of the best comedy specials of 2022 by Variety.
