We had the chance to attend a great event at the Hard Rock Café in Hollywood for an amazing cause. It was also singer-songwriter Daniel Bedingfield’s first appearance in Los Angeles in more than five years to benefit Stop The Traffik. Bedingfield is best known for his hits “Gotta Get Thru This” and “If You’re Not The One” and is about to release his highly anticipated next album.

The event was a kickoff to The Quantum Collective’s Southwest Invasion at SXSW, which featured more than 15 events including showcases, barbecues, mixers and more at the world famous SXSW festival.

Various artists and bands took the stage at the Hard Rock including Native June, Jared James Nichols, A House for Lions , E-Train and The Grey Area. These acts got the crowd pumped up for the one we all were waiting to hear! Bedingfield made his way through the crowd, graciously greeting all his fans & thanking everyone for coming out. He then took the stage telling the crowd to ‘come in closer’ so they could be up close and personal for his performance. Before performing his hit songs, Bedingfield warmed up the crowd by beat boxing and was joined on stage by American Idol’s 6th season runner up Blake Lewis.  It was such a fun and interactive way to start the show.

An even greater surprise for fans was that his sisters, singers Natasha Bedingfield & Nikola Rachelle, were also in the house to support and joined Daniel for a trifecta of harmonies singing “Honest Questions” from is his album Gotta Get Thru This.

If you’re a real fan of Mr. Bedingfield (like I am) this was a night written in the stars- an intimate performance of songs both new & old. Bedingfield was so personable and down to earth which is very refreshing to see with someone who is surely used to being in the spot light.

The fundraiser was very successful for Stop The Traffik and as the kickoff event for the Quantum Collective. Bedingfield next headed to SXSW where he did a surprise set at the Driskill Saturday night that was named by NME as their #4 top surprise of the festival.

Daniel’s much awaited EP is set to be out later this month.  Unlike most of today’s artists, who release albums through record labels, managers, and the like, Bedingfield is producing his album 100% independently: no label, no manager, no filter whatsoever between him and his fans. . While this is AMAZING, it also means that he needs the support of his fans more than ever. With our help, he will be able to fund future tours and release new music videos for everyone to enjoy.

Now this is my favorite part… to engage fans, Daniel has put together a list of activities he will do for you or with you, ranging from his new EP download (available for only $10) to one-on-one singing lessons (priced at $350). And of course, there is the opportunity of a lifetime for all the ladies out there… an actual DATE with Bedingfield (price tag- $750). Being a huge fan of the New Zealand native, I would have loved to have had the date but living in LA and having a bit of a shopping addiction to begin with, my Michael Kors wallet could only handle a $50 Skype session (which I am ecstatic about and CAN’T WAIT to have!!!)  I get to ask 20 questions in 20 minutes… any suggestions from our PPLA fans on what to ask? Keep it PG or……Not? You can leave your suggestions in our comments section below and who knows, I just may ask your burning question! To make a pledge or purchase, please visit Pledge The Music.

On top of all of that, 15% of any money raised after the 100% reached target will be going to benefit the Stop the Traffik organization.

Stop the Traffik is a growing global movement of individuals, communities, and organizations fighting to prevent the sale of people, protect the trafficked, and prosecute the traffickers.

The first in Daniel Bedingfield’s  EP series “Stop The Traffik – Secret Fear”  will be released digitally worldwide on April 24. His video for “Rocks Off” premiered on MTV Buzzworthy on March 14th. You can check in out here on Youtube.
