His Dark Materials Coming to HBO

HBO has announced that they will be adding “His Dark Materials” based on Phillip Pullman’s books to their lineup.

With an already impressive slate of entertainment, we can’t wait to see what will be in store for fans of Phillip Pullman’s books. If this sounds familiar to you, it may be, because you remember “The Golden Compass” film. In case your memory’s hazy, you can find the trailer below.

HBO isn’t creating ‘His Dark Materials’ from scratch. Instead they have paired with BBC, Bad Wolf, and New Line Cinema (who produced the original film) to help produce the series.

If you want to gear up for an epic fantasy adventure you should really check out the books, you can click HERE for them. We love a good page to screen adaptation, and with these production companies behind it, we can’t see how it won’t be a major hit.

This will come just in time for those of us suffering from “Game of Thrones” withdrawal. Although if rumor is to be believed, spin offs are already under way. We’re hoping for a bit of Targareyn history in the pipeline. But we digress, back to “His Dark Materials.”  HBO has not only joined to produce “His Dark Materials,” they’ve also acquired the world wide rights to it. “His Dark Materials” stars: Lin-Manuel Miranda, Dafne Keen, James McAvoy, and Ruth Wilson. The series is directed by Tom Hopper, and is one of the most expensive and expansive British dramas to date. We can’t wait to see the finished product!
