Market Tavern LA is located inside LA’s iconic Farmer’s Market at The Grove. This proper English hotspot has just kicked off their weekend brunch, including their mouth watering Sunday roast options.
Market Tavern LA offers their weekend brunch from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Chef Brendan Collins has debuted an all new menu including dishes like Spicy Fried Chicken and Waffles, Japanese Souffle Pancakes, Full English Breakfast (wet or dry burrito) and more. Chef Brendan Collins’ famous Sunday Roast is also available starting at noon, which includes dishes like Roast Beef and Horseradish, Half Roast Chicken with Sage and Onion Stuffing and Lamb Leg with all the trimmings.
We kicked off our Sunday brunch adventure with a Scotch egg. This very traditional English fare consists of a hard boiled egg that is wrapped sausage meat, breaded and fried. It’s on their brunch menu and if you’re looking for a traditional experience, we say don’t skip this one.
We paired our meal with their bottomless Bloody Mary and Mimosa option (they also have bottomless Margaritas but we only have one liver).
Before diving into the main courses we asked after the specials, and if you happen to pop in on a waffle special day this is a MUST. The cherry’s were so fresh and bursting with flavor. They paired perfectly with the waffles that had just the right level of sweetness to satisfy a sweets craving without ruining your savory meal. Honestly, taking this special and sharing it amongst friends as an appetizer is the best.
If you go to an English spot and don’t try the Fish and Chips, were you even really there? This was our favorite meal on the menu. The fish is battered to perfection. Absolute perfection, with a flaky white fish that melts in your mouth. The battered fish is in perfect unision with the chips which are served with vinegar (as they should be). If you only get one food item on the menu, this is it.
The Sunday Roast is a showstopper. This meal is perfect for sharing amongst a group. The decadence of flavors, is enough to make anyone a regular. With so many Brits returning to LA, Market Tavern LA is a must stop destination for anyone looking to snag a bit of “back home” feeling. The stuffing was so incredibly rich and flavorful, while the chicken was moist and had the right bit of crunch to its baked skin. Served with a compliment of veggies and Yorkshire pudding, it is a little taste of Britain right in our Angeleno backyard.
Just bask in this beauty. This Sticky Toffee Pudding is criminal. It was the most decadent and lush item on the menu. This dessert will send you straight to bed, it is so glorious. If you need to settle your meal by rounding it out with a dessert choice, look no further.
