Sage Vegan Bistro & Brewery is the spot to check out this summer- whether you are vegan or not!
We were invited to taste their new summer cocktail menu this past week, as well as try their light bites and food pairings.
The three course menu began with sangria served with a goatless greek salad and an epic vegan charcuterie board.
This salad was honestly one of the tastiest creation of greens we’ve ever encountered- from avocado to apples- it was refreshing and delicious. Tthe sangria was our top drink of the evening, hands down.
Next course was their house margarita and street tacos made with eggplant and barbacoa. We were skeptical that tacos could taste so good (sans meat) but what we loved about these tacos is that they weren’t a meat replacement, they were just a tasty healthy option that truly delivered and surprised us at how much of a punch they packed for our tastebuds. You can’t go wrong with a margarita… let’s be honest, always a good idea!
Then the hibiscus cooler was paired with the banh mi wrap. This tofu wrap with carrots and cabbage was probably our least favorite dish of the night but only because we were WOW-ed prior. It’s a great simple choice for lunch or on the go. The hibiscus cooler is a summer cocktail worth sipping too.
For dessert, we were treated to a blackberry sorbet topped with fresh organic blackberries from local Sow a Heart Farm. We loved that this dessert dish was crisp and cool for the heat wave Los Angeles has been experiencing and the fact that the blackberries were locally grown on their nearby farm could not have been more fitting.
The night also included making new friends and great conversation and the Sage Bistro rustic home decor – love that shiplap walls- had us feeling right at home. All guests were gifted with a certificate for their picnic basket. We definitely plan to come back to dine in and take the basket for a summer date night in the park.
