You may remember we featured Director Hasraf Dulull’s short film Project Kronos on Press Pass LA. Well Haz’s latest film 47 Ronin: The Samurai Spirit is an animated short produced with Universal Pictures in conjunction with DSF as part of the marketing for the release of 47 Ronin starring Keanu Reeves.
This animated prologue features a child’s voiceover discussing the history of Reeves’ character Kai. It employs “Hyper Motion Cinema”, pushing the format and visual style further from that featured in Director – Haz’s previous work Fubar Redux.
Hyper Motion Cinema is a visually rich and engaging story telling format designed to feature short form content – both branded and original. The launch of its “Hyper Motion Cinema” branded format has made DSF the world leader in the Hyper Comic format.
This video has been driving excitement for the feature which is set to debut December 25th and follows a group of 18th century warriors who aim to avenge their master’s death and dishonor at the hands of a ruthless shogun.
This marks the first big action role for Keanu Reeves since starring in The Matrix franchise. He is supported by a mainly Japanese cast including Hiroyuki Sanada, Kou Shibasaki, Tadanobu Asano, and Rinko Kikuchi.
