Walt Disney World has removed their statue of comedian Bill Cosby from their Hollywood Studios theme park near Orlando, Florida.
The bust of the comedian was removed Tuesday evening after the park closed. Due to Cosby admitting to previous allegations made regarding sexual assault, Disney thought it was best to disassociate themselves from him. His bust was featured amongst the likes of Oprah Winfrey in Disney’s Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Hall of Fame Plaza.
On Monday evening, unsealed documents in Pennsylvania showed that Cosby admitted to acquiring sedatives—Quaaludes, in particular—to give to women he was interested in seducing. This deposition occurred in 2005. However, Cosby’s legal team fought to keep his testimony a secret.
In light of this announcement, several other companies and businesses—including Ben’s Chili Bowl in Washington, D.C.—are distancing themselves from the formerly beloved comedian.
