Cheer up in 2020, Taylor Swift has yet another surprise in store for fans.
Disney+ and Taylor Swift announced Tuesday that she had filmed a concert film for her latest release, the quarantine-created Folklore, which will premiere on Disney+ on Wednesday, Nov. 25th, just in time for Thanksgiving! Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions, which Taylor Swift directed, was filmed in upstate New York (shout out to Duchess County) in September and features Taylor Swift and collaborators Jack Antonoff, The National’s Aaron Dessner and Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon performing and sharing the stories behind the songs they recorded thousands of miles apart in separate rooms. Taylor Swift announced the surprising news to fans of the Folklore film on social media by paraphrasing one of the lyrics to the Folklore track “Exile,” which has quickly become a fan-favorite. “You haven’t seen this film before.”
Taylor Swift’s latest release was announced just hours before nominations are revealed for the 2021 Grammys. Taylor also recently revealed that she is in the process of re-recording all of her previous masters, which were recently sold without her consent, or profit to her person. Her first six albums were purchased by Scooter Braun and subsequently sold to private equity firm Shamrock Holdings. Wouldn’t it have been nice to see them do the right thing and return them to Taylor? Well, she’s continuing on with her prodigious music capabilities.
The Folklore film drops at 12:01 a.m. PT on Wednesday, Nov. 25
