The New Year means that awards season for TV, music, and movies is upon us. And the best part about all this – besides the in-depth analysis about the clothes – are the gift bags given to Golden Globes nominees. DPA invited Press Pass LA to the Golden Globe Gift Lounge at the Luxe Rodeo Drive Hotel in Beverly Hills.
The following companies are in the gift bags at the 2014 Golden Globes, and every item made me upset I didn’t pursue acting beyond a gen-ed class in college!
Ohyo, an eco-friendly British company, is gifting out “The Collapsabottle,” a dishwasher-safe, BPA-free collapsible rubber water bottle. In its collapsed state, it is barely 2 inches, if that, and can fit in your pocket. However, when fully expanded, it can hold up to 16 oz. of liquid. A plastic spout at the end makes drinking a cinch.
Hailing from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Jill’s Chocolates is presenting Golden Globe artists with boxes of assorted, hand-made gourmet chocolates. Jill’s Chocolates also offers up caramels infused with sea salt, Glen Breton Whiskey®, and maple. Nearly all her offerings are seasonal, so check the website to see what delicious concoctions she has!
The bald but beautiful don’t have to worry about this, but for hirsute gentleman like myself, proper hair care makes a big difference. International stylist Frederic Fekkai is hooking celebs up with travel-sized, 2 oz. bottles of his signature lines of shampoo and conditioner.
The Yes Bar:
Many of us have said yes to the dress, but…yes to the bar? The Yes Bar is a gluten-free, GMO-free, snack bar company started by Abigal Wald. Ms. Wald provided all press with samples of two flavors: coffee cayenne, and macadamia chocolate chip. She created these bars for people who have dietary restrictions to be able to say “yes…I can have this.” These delicious bars are a perfect snack for anyone at Runyan Canyon who is looking to hike off their Globe hangovers!
Toffee Talk was voted “The Best Toffee in America” at the 5th Annual Taste Awards, and with the almond-infused samples that were being handed out, it’s easy to see why. They are the perfect blend of sweet and savory. Gluten-free and based in San Francisco, Toffee Talk is routinely ordered by Google and Pixar.
The Real McCoy’s might be giving PopChips a run for their money by offering rice chips made with whole grain brown rice kernels. These gluten-free, GMO-free, and vegan snacks come in diverse flavors like sweet & spicy, hatch chile, Worcester & chives, baked cheddar, sea salt, and more.
Health-conscious celebs might do well in keeping their gifted bottles of organic coconut water from Coco Libre, the company that started the coconut water trend. The delicious and exotic water, which is designed to replenish and rehydrate the body after heavy activity, also boasts a flavor that is infused with pineapples. Coco Libre adds no sugar, provides 5 electrolytes, and is fat/cholesterol/gluten-free.

Belvoir Fruit Farms:
The first British Invasion gave us The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. Belvoir Fruit Farms is quite the sequel! They’ll be providing glass bottles of their organic Elderflower Presse, a gently bubbling elderflower lemonade. This is 100% organic, and 200% delicious!

Energems perfectly blend bite-sized candy with caffeine and B-vitamins. Yum. The company will be providing boxes of mint, peanut butter, and chocolate with gift bags. These are perfect for when you want a little midday sugar, but also a little energy. Oh, and did I mention they’re only 15 calories each?
Buchu (boo-koo) is a South African plant this is widely used as natural anti-inflammatory for joints. In fact, it is one of the country’s most valuable medicinal plants. The company is featuring soft gel dietary supplement caplets that aim to stimulate a healthy inflammatory response in sore muscles and joints, as well as a natural sport gel for skin and muscle use.
White Girl Salsa:
Coming in flavors like cranberry-mango and smokey chipotle, White Girl Salsa more than lives up to its motto: Fresh Taste: Instant Sassiness. Prior to becoming a business, the “white girl” and company founder created her own blends, and when a Mexican family known for making authentic salsa ate it up quickly, she knew she had something cooking.
Pacific Beach Peanut Butter:
One food we all like is finger-lickin’ good, but this company makes something spoon-lickin’ good: toffee peanut butter! Done. Sold. The jar may not make it through the Globe after-parties it’s so amazing! The San Diego-based company has a full line of organic, all-natural, and gluten-free peanut butters, all made from Valencia peanuts.
With an indistinguishable box as red as the company’s name, Redd Remedies is filling gift bags with dietary supplements that improve mental focus and clarity, support clear respiratory passages, and improve physical energy and stamina. With how late the Globes will probably run, these are all things we could use on Monday!
Foxy’s Pash Premium Frozen Yogurt:
Low in fat and sugar? Gluten-free? Kosher? To paraphrase one of my all-time favorite party songs: “Pash the yogurt to the left-hand side!” I taste-tested their Mango & Passionfruit Smoothie flavor, and it is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I may have become a newfound “Pash-ionista.” Others flavors are Wild Berry & Chocolate Flakes, Honeycomb & Caramel Chunks, Vanilla Bean & Strawberry Hunks.
Hzurdadi Denim Co.:
I’ll save you the trouble of figuring out how to pronounce the company’s name. It’s “who’s your daddy.” It took everyone at the gifting lounge a minute to figure it out. But the company’s ultra-lightweight denim scarves, many of which feature chic and funky patterns sewn on the reverse side, are really cool and soft.
