While we spend a lot of our time at Press Pass LA covering the celebrity lifestyle, we are always looking for the chance to #GetWhatMatters to our fans which is why when we met the owners of 12th Bean at an ESPYS gifting suite recently, we couldn’t be more excited about their mission to help the homeless in L.A.!

Nearly 47,000 homeless people live in Los Angeles, up 11% from this time last year according to a recent study by the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority.  So when we met  entrepreneurs Jared Goetz and Jack McColl at a glitzy lounge for Hollywood’s elite celebrities and athletes, we weren’t expecting them to tell us about their plan to hand out free beds to the homeless the next morning.

The duo were at the lounge showcasing their product, the Dumbo Lounge Sack, a versatile and portable lounge chair that adds comfort to outdoor adventures like hiking, traveling, and sports. While the product would have certainly been hard to miss on the floor, it wasn’t the size or bright colors that caught our eye but the conversation we had with Jared and Jack.

“Tomorrow, we are going to meet up with the lead singer of Emblem 3, Wesley Stromberg, and give out hundreds of Dumbo Lounge Sack’s to the homeless in Santa Monica. It’s going to be a great day and you should come down to the beach to witness it.”

The company which launched in April originally created the sacks from Jared and Jack’s own experience being lovers of the outdoors.  “As adventurers, we could relate to the need for versatile and portable comfort in any scenario. Whether it’s adventures to the beach or hiking up mountains, Dumbo’s can conveniently come along any trek and provide ultimate comfort within seconds.”

The sack is made of polyeurathane-coated ripstop nylon and has a durable PVC plastic inner lining. This durable and waterproof material allows for light traveling, as the sack weighs a total of 2.6 pounds. The Dumbo Lounge Sack inflates in seconds with no pump needed, and folds back into its own carrying bag with shoulder strap. These features make it perfect for hikers, sports fans, music festival goers, college students and anyone in between, including the city’s homeless.

“Instead of sleeping on the ground, we want to offer our city’s homeless a more comfortable alternative that they can inflate without any equipment and simply deflate, pack, and carry easily with them,” added Jared and Jack.

While the product may not decrease the city’s homeless population, it is certainly trying to provide comfort and humanity to those in need with nowhere to turn. We’re thrilled to share the video of their day in Santa Monica.DumboLoungeSack

The Dumbo Lounge Sacks also comes with 4 fun features for summer including a bottle opener, iPhone/tablet holder, cup holder, and stake & stake holder and comes in eight colors. And did we mention they float?

They retail at DumboLoungeSacks.com starting at $69.99. Use promo code “Wesley” at check out when purchasing one and for every Dumbo bag purchased, Wesley will be giving 1 away to a homeless person.
