Press Pass LA attended the 4th Annual ESSENCE Black Women in Music event honoring breakthrough female artists Lianne La Havas and Solange Knowles. The event, which was hosted by Kelly Rowland (hot off her Super Bowl appearance) and ESSENCE editor at large Emil Wilbekin and held at Greystone Manor in Hollywood, included performances by the two honorees.

The invitation only red carpet Grammy week event highlighted the contributions of Black women in music and brought out industry elite and celebrity supporters  including Eric Benet, Estelle, Jesse Williams, NeNe Leakes, Amber Riley, Jill Scott, Meagan Good, among others. The event was sponsored by My Black is Beautiful and Lincoln and the red carpet featured two of the 2013 Lincoln vehicles.

On the red carpet we catch up with Estelle who told us she was excited to see Solange perform tonight and that she would be attending The Grammy Awards this weekend. As for her dress? She was tightlipped but did say it would have her spin on style. I guess we will just have to watch! Before heading inside, she added that we should watch out for her upcoming album Love & Happiness which she is currently working on. We also spoke with NeNe Leakes who confirmed she will be returning to “her family” The Real Housewives of Atlanta next season and told us to look out for the gorgeous John Stamos who will be guest starring on her show The New Normal this season. Speaking of heartthrobs, the ladies of the carpet could not wait to talk to Grey’s Anatomy’s Jessie Williams who remained mum about his recent wedding but did say he would be tuning in for the Grammy entertainment on Sunday with his wife.
