Kalush Orchestra, won the annual contest earlier this month during an emotional evening in Italy.
Now the Kalush Orchestra have raised $900,000 to be spent on the PD-2 unmanned aerial system including three aircraft and a ground control station in hopes to aid the ongoing Ukranian War effort. The money was raised by the band by selling their Eurovision trophy, marking the first time the Eurovision trophy has ever been sold. The sale was hosted by Ukrainian TV presenter Serhiy Prytula, on Facebook. Kalush Orchestra’s win for entry Stefania was watched by millions around the world and, if possible, next year’s contest will take place in Ukraine, although it may default to the UK (2nd place) due to the ongoing war.
