“Frozen” fans might just melt today with all this red hot Disney news! Walt Disney Animation confirmed the sequel to the hit animated film is coming our way in the not too distant future! Plus, the studio released the short film “Frozen Fever” which Press Pass LA had the pleasure of seeing at the Cinderella premiere.
The short features cast members Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell returning as your favorite princesses Elsa and Anna. Frozen favorites Jonathan Groff as Kristoff and Josh Gad as Olaf, also make an appearance in this five minutes of pure fun!
The story focuses on Anna’s birthday and her sister Elsa is determined to throw her the best birthday celebration ever (considering she missed all of her previous birthday parties locked in her room.) She works secretly with Kristoff and Olaf to make the day perfect, however Elsa comes down with a cold that puts the party at risk! Let’s just say she’s sneezing tiny Olaf-like snowmen that have not yet been, well… snowman trained.
But have no fear because “a cold never bothered her anyway” sings Elsa in a quick nod to the film’s hit song “Let It Go.” The audience loved the film and it sure had everyone at fever pitch (pun intended) to see the sequel Frozen 2. Directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee are set to return in addition to producer Peter Del Vecho and songwriters Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, who won the Academy Award for “Let It Go.”
The sequel was confirmed at Disney’s Annual Meeting of Shareholders by Bob Iger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company; John Lasseter, Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios; and actor Josh Gad (lovable Olaf).
“We enjoyed making Frozen Fever so much and being back in that world with those characters,” said John Lasseter. “Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck have come up with a great idea for a sequel and you will be hearing a lot more about it and we’re taking you back to Arendelle. We are so excited about that.”
