The not so little animated film that could! Finding Dory is the long awaited sequel of Disney’s beloved ‘Finding Nemo’.
Picking up a year after the events of the last film, we go on a journey to learn about everyones favorite short term memory loss gal: Dory. Disney-Pixar touches on the touchy subject of disabilities and how to overcome them along with animal captivity. As our friend Sigourney Weaver emphasizes in ‘Finding Dory’ its all about “rescue, rehabilitation and release”. The feature sends a powerful message about loving your friends and family for who they are as individuals and respecting the lives of sea creatures. From the whale sharks to the oysters of the ocean no creature is neglected in this heartfelt tale of family reunions. After all, who doesn’t love a good cry at the hands of adorably animated sea creatures?
Don’t let the deeper meaning of the film deter you from the films comedic nature. With no shortage of jokes on ‘Becky with the good hair’, you’re sure to be red in the face cracking up from Disney’s ingenuity once again. Our favorite new character in Disney-Pixar’s animated universe is Gerald. Ahh yes, the creeper seal that could. Ever wonder what seals are yelling when they spaz out on their favorite sunning rocks? Don’t worry they’ve got you covered. Ed O’Neil lends his voice talents to the star studded cast as a pessimistic escapist octopus. Hank ( Ed O’Neil) shines as Dory’s ( Ellen Degeneres) cohort in her attempt to find her parents. Gunning for a yellow selection tag to spend his days in a calm glassed walled water paradise; he bargains with Dory for her tag in return for his help. Too bad no one ever meets Dory and stays the same. The cranky old octopus comes around with a surprising twist of events.
Finding Dory is a ton of fun for the whole family. Easily the best fun filled animated movie of the summer. Laced with comedy, love, and a conscious message to save our oceans and value our family, theres nothing not to be in love with about Dory.
