This Thursday November 1st, DreamAgo and Hamilton International are teaming up to connect writers with top producers and distributors during the American Film Market (Oct. 31st-Nov, 7th). The events are created to encourage networking and progress among professionals in the film industry. Screenwriters will get two opportunities to pitch their scripts during the AFM conference.
Make sure you know your story well because the first chance will be a speed-dating pressure test as writers are given a 10 minute one-on-one session with a producer. Among those participating are Linda Obst (Hope Floats, Sleepless in Seattle,How to Lose A Guy in 10 Days), Golan Ramras (One Missed Call, The Incredible Hulk), Kelley Feldsott Reynolds (The Flyboys, The Unsaid) and many others.
After that, WGA writers will be given the chance to pitch a feature project and try to win an all expenses paid six weeks residency in Sierre, Switzerland. Among the more than 250 pitches submitted, DreamAgo and the Residence Ruffieux will select 15 projects and each of the writers will be given the opportunity to pitch it in person for 10 minutes.
The events have been created so that filmmakers and other industry professionals can interact on a truly worldwide level. International agents and producers will be on hand supporting works from all continents.
The American Film Market brings together more than 80,000 attendees from 70 different countries over eight days of deal-making every November in Santa Monica. The convention is responsible for hundreds of millions of deals being made every year from films that are completed and ready for distribution to those that are in the early stages of development. The event includes panels, seminars, industry networking events (including the AFM Happy Hour) and more.
