GO RED FOR WOMEN, CHARITY FASHION SHOW

Wrapping up Style Fashion Week was the ‘Go Red for Women Celebrity Red Dress Fashion Show’. Not only was this show about the glitz and glamour, but it was benefitting The American Heart Association to fight against heart disease and stroke. For the second season, it was held at the beautiful Vibiana Cathedral in downtown Los Angeles.

After walking the red carpet, guests entered onto the outside patio area where some of the event’s sponsors were set up. There were two bars hosted by Sapporo Beer, Monster Energy Drinks, Louis XIII Cognac, Vita Coco Coconut Water, and Pura Vida Gold Tequila. Two Ducati motorcycles were on display on a separate red carpet and Luna Energy Bars had a table set up to give out delicious goodies.Though the weather was a bit chilly, there were several heat lamps to keep everyone warm and assure them a good time.

Backstage, there was a frenzy of models in hair and makeup, a sea of red dresses being steamed and fitted, tons of photographers, camera crews and reporters. Hair services were sponsored by Sexy Hair and VoCe Haircare. Emmy award winning celebrity makeup artist, Melanie Mills was also backstage providing makeup services with her line, Gleam.

Before the show started, I caught up with Slade Smiley and Gretchen Rossi (Real Housewives of Orange County) backstage about their reality show. Gretchen was one of the beautiful models to walk in the show. I also spotted the event hosts, Taylor Armstrong (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) and celebrity fashion stylist, George Blodwell.

The fashion show was kicked off with a performance by recording artist, Consuela. Each model walked the runway twice in different red gowns. The red dress is the national symbol for women and heart disease awareness. Having the models only wear red dresses, sent a strong message of support for the cause. There were a lot of women in the audience wearing them as well.

The show ended with a performance by former Pussycat Dolls member, Kaya Jones as the models took a final walk for the finale. Of course it couldn’t really end without the host, Taylor Armstrong taking a strut down the runway as well.

Style Fashion Week definitely finished with a bang by saving this show for last! Fashion for a cause is always in season in my book!
