GOLDEN GLOBES: GBK & SECRET ROOM STYLE LOUNGES

Sure, awards are nice! But there are prizes given around awards season that go to all the nominees and celebrities, not just the winners’ circle. These come in the form of gifting lounges, two of the most exclusive being the GBK and Secret Room Style Lounges!
Press Pass LA was lucky enough to be invited to a day of pampering by these two premiere events this past Friday.
Our first stop of the day was at the SLS Hotel for the Secret Room Events Style Lounge. The event was a Caribbean Style Retreat in honor of the 70th Annual Golden Globes, inviting media, celebrities, and nominees to check out their products ranging from exotic resort vacations and high end jewelry to hip and trendy baby and pet products to luxurious skin and hair care goods!
The event’s charity of choice this year was To Write Love on Her Arms– a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery. They were offering free t-shirts and information for which many celebrities happily made a donation.
Speaking of a good cause, we fell in love with the children’s clothing line Born4Couture.com and were thrilled to take home one of their signature little girl’s pink ‘cupcake’ tutu dresses (for our niece!). This line was started to raise money for the founder’s own daughter who was born in need of life-threatening surgeries and was originally sold door-to-door and by word of mouth. Her little girl is now healthy and thriving as is this company, selling more than 200,000 online orders this year!
While perusing the product tables, celebs got to enjoy caramel infused drinks courtesy of Lovoka (a caramel infused Liqueur). We loved the drink our mixologist made with apple juice and a cinnammon stick, a perfect morning cocktail!
Some of the most popular products included evening dresses with built in shape-wear donated to nominees by NUE by Shani, exquisite jewelry gifted by Lita Sea Glass Jewelry, gift certificates and on site applications of eyelash extensions by Kelly Lash, hair care products and demonstrations by Schwarzkopf, pre-loved baby styling and clothing club subscription by PickyBunny, and more!
PPLA was gifted a number of fabulous gifts including a cosmetic pallet and brush set by Shany Cosmetics, organic lotion and soap by Lulu Blossom, a bag full of new-Mom goodies including baby lotion and stretch mark oil by Shoosha, Blinc tube-forming mascara, turnaround day and night creams by Eternna Cosmetics, signature Betty Boop t-shirts, men’s & women’s Swisse vitamins celebrity endorsed by Nicole Kidman, and even a designer dog carrier made to airline regulations by Argo. Perhaps our favorite gift was the silver leather and crystal headband gifted by The Finest Accessories which we wore on the red carpet the next night at the Art of Elysium, Golden Globes Heaven Gala.

Our next stop of the day was our long-time favorite, the GBK Luxury Lounge. Having attended both their lounges for the American Music Awards and Emmy’s, we knew we would be in for a treat for the Golden Globes!
This lounge was held at the L’Ermitage hotel in Beverly Hills and benefitted Lambda Legal and their ongoing efforts for equal and fair treatment of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and those with HIV through impact litigation, education and public policy work. Celebrating their 40th Anniversary in 2013, Lambda Legal was gifting custom-made birthday cupcake candles compliments of SweetShoppeCandles.com
As we entered the lounge, we quickly spotted Ali Fedotowsky (Host of NBC’s First Look) and Thandie Newton (Rogue) near the Sabra table checking out their delicious line of hummus and the Vita table tasting their organic foods.
Other vendors that adorned the rooftop patio included Essilor of America with their luxury sunglasses with premium polarized and Crizal UV, handmade reindeer leather jewelry from the Arctic Circle in Sweden from SwedArt, the Debut Line of Mr. and Mrs. 8 limited edition sneakers, Smartsilk – a luxury silk-filled bedding company gifting certificates towards their new Paws n’ Silk pet bedding and apparel line, cosmetics by RevitaLash including their signature DramatEYE’s, and more! Our favorite spot at the poolside patio was returning vendor The Artisan Group whose hand-made jewelry, soaps, and crafts are always at the top of our must-have gifting list!
We then headed to the rest of the lounge located on the first floor to see custom-made luxury swimsuits from BeachCandy Swimwear by BritB, timepieces for men from Égard, ready to wear collections for dogs by Couture by Sophie, services and skin care products including the H2V Skin Care Regime by Burke Williams spa, and Sexual perfumes for men and women by Michel Germain.
We were also treated to a demo by Tweezerman making our brows look fabulous and gifting celebs their ProCurl and Slant Tweezer! Other great products to get help you get red carpet ready included José Eber Hair gifting the revolutionary José Eber Infrared Blow Dryer and Kiss Nails which included the Kiss Nail Dress line of easy to use stickers for your nails and the imPRESS press-on nails manicure. Even Kate Flannery (The Office) commented, “I love these nails! I wear them for my comedy bit all the time, they are so easy to apply!” We agree!
Finally, we tasted a sample of the GBK custom cake by the Bread Basket Cake Company…YUM!!!
