For all the Harry Potter fans that have watched Harry, Ron and Hermione grow up (actors Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson) it’s a very sad time. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2- the second half of the franchise finale- just hit theaters smashing the box office record with an astonishing, but not surprising, 92.1 million viewers on it’s opening day! Seven films in total and ten years later, viewers get to see this trio meet their end, one way or another, and boy was it worth the wait!
In my opinion, creator J.K. Rowling is one of the most inventive writers I have ever read and the story of Harry Potter, boy wizard, was such an amazing series of books from beginning to end. As each film came out, fans everywhere counted down the days until the next movie would be released but now they will have to get their final fix. Warner Brothers aptly tagged this film with the line, “It all ends” and what an UNBELIEVABLE ending it is! No spoiler here…but rest assured the last film does solve all your unanswered questions.
From the first film, to the final film, Harry Potter transforms from a lost boy to a boy who realizes his destiny. Harry, Ron, and Hermione continue their quest to find Horcruxes and one after another the trio is able to defeat them…Get rid of all the Horcruxes, get rid of Voldemort? If you haven’t seen the movie, I suggest you start canceling your weekend plans and enjoy an all-out marathon because this is one epic saga you don’t want to miss.
The final film was written by screenwriter Steve Kloves, who scripted seven of the eight Potter films, and directed by David Yates, who helmed four of the eight films. Standout performances included Ralph Fiennes as Lord Voldemort and Tom Felton as Draco Malfoy.
For those of you who never missed a beat but will surely miss your three pals from Hogwarts, you can find your favorite actors, albeit different characters, on the silver screen again soon. Emma Watson is in two upcoming movies My Week with Marilyn and The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Rupert Grint has four upcoming films including Comrade and Eddie the Eagle, and Daniel Radcliffe is filming multiple projects and currently starring in the Broadway Musical, How to Succeed in Business. All good things must come to an end, but we will certainly miss the Potter roles that defined their young careers.
