The American Humane Association’s 4th Annual “Hero Dog Awards” took place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Saturday, September 27th and air on October 30th on The Hallmark Channel.
Co-hosts James Denton and Beth Stern were all smiles as they posed for a pictures together backstage. The event brought out animal lovers including RHOBH star Lisa Vanderpump and her beloved dog, Giggy, who both looked glamorous and longtime AHA supporter Candy Spelling. Also spotted on the red carpet was Lori Loughlin who brought her two daughters as dates, Pauley Perrette who stopped to show a boxer some love, Bailee Madison, Katie Cleary, Charlotte Ross, Lacey Chabert, and Brant Daugherty. The event included a performance by Wilshon Phillips who sang their longtime hit “Hold On.”
The award for this year’s “Hero Dog” was presented to Susie, a Pitbull therapy dog from North Carolina, one of eight finalists. Susie and her owner both triumphed over great pain and fear in their lives- Susie having been set on fire, beaten, and abandoned as a puppy and her owner having suffered a brutal dog attack. Together they become a dedicated team and the voices for abused animals that have no voice. They visit hospitals, schools, and nursing homes to inspire people never to give up and have changed N.C. animal cruelty laws
