PPLA attended the American Humane Association’s “Hero Dog Awards” kickoff cocktail reception hosted by Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Vanderpump + Giggy at SUR Lounge in West Hollywood. The event honored our canine friends for their unconditional service and love.
CEO of the American Humane Association Robin Ganzert was on hand to kick off the evening alongside Host Lisa Vanderpump, her celebrity dog Giggy ,and Ken Vanderpump who were all smiles at the event!
Real Housewives of Miami star Joanna Krupa stunned in a bright floral printed dress as she hung out with Beautrice (a.k.a Stella), the lovable French Bulldog from Modern Family. Other celebrity supporters including E!’s Ashlan Gorse, looking equally chic in a black ensemble, and Candy Spelling, who shared her love for dogs with us while petting some of the other furry friends in attendance.
The American Humane Association Hero Dog Award were first created in 2010 to celebrate the remarkable bond between dogs and people. The awards is preceded by an annual national competition to find America’s Hero Dogs, who unconditionally avail themselves to humans in so many important ways, be it saving lives on the battlefield, lending sight or hearing to a human companion, providing therapeutic support to children suffering from cancer, or just greeting us with a wagging tail at the end of a hard day. Heroic hounds can be nominated by anyone at least 18 years of age in one of eight categories: Law Enforcement Dogs; Arson Dogs; Service Dogs; Therapy Dogs; Military Dogs; Guide & Hearing Dogs; Search and Rescue Dogs; and Emerging Hero Dogs (for ordinary dogs who do extraordinary things or are just heroes to us).
Every finalist is presented with a Hero Dog award for their feats of loyalty, bravery, and love, and wins $1,500 for a selected charity partner. One grand prize winner walks away with the top honor of being named the American Hero Dog for 2014 and secures an additional $5,000 for their charity partner.
It was a fun-filled evening for a great cause!
