Jennifer Lawrence’s ‘No Hard Feelings’ Soars At The Box Office

If No Hard Feelings is any gauge, could we be seeing the re-emergence of the raunchy rom-com?

The early 00’s was the hey day of raunchy rom-coms, and with this weekend’s success of No Hard Feelings hopes are high to see raunchy female led rom-coms make a comeback. On its opening day, the film scored $6.25 million in Friday and Thursday preview screenings on just over 6k screens. We won’t celebrate just yet. Currently the film is outperforming tempered expectations, its success may still be an uphill climb to turn a genuine profit — No Hard Feelings cost $45 million to produce.

Directed by Gene Stupnitsky, No Hard Feelings stars Jennifer Lawrence as Maddie, a beleaguered Uber driver who gets her car repossessed. Maddie is determined to change her luck after spotting a Craigslist ad from two parents, offering their old car in exchange for somebody to date their awkward Princeton-bound son (Andrew Barth Feldman).

Overall the film is hilarious with the type of performances that mix witty humor and physical comedy reminiscent of its early 00’s genre counter-parts. Jennifer Lawrence glows in this comedy. Make a date of it and go check out No Hard Feelings, you won’t be sorry.
