Jimmy Kimmel delivered a tearful opening monologue tonight on“Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” revealing complications following the birth of his son just ten days ago. “If your baby is going to die it shouldn’t matter how much money you make,” Kimmel said.
Tonight fans were shocked to find a usually cheerful Kimmel, fighting back tears during his entire opening monologue as he recounted the most scary situation a parent can encounter which unfolded for his family over the last week. Kimmel’s son William “Billy” Kimmel had an emergency open heart surgery after his birth, and thankfully is on track to make a full recovery.
Despite the seriousness of the situation, Kimmel got his point across while still cracking a few jokes (sorry Matt Damon!) and spreading awareness of the AMAZING work that Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and Cedars Sinai did to save his child.
Jimmy even got political! Watch the full monologue to hear Jimmy’s comments on Donald Trump’s recent proposed healthcare cuts and (thankfully) the Senate’s vote to increase medical funding. “No parent should ever have to decide if they can afford to save their child’s life,” said Kimmel, a sentiment that crosses political lines.
