To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the L.A. Marathon, ASICS is sponsoring the run in true Hollywood style. While Los Angeles, is no stranger to spotlights for red carpets and premieres, the lighted run looks to be like nothing we’ve seen before! Don’t believe me, check out the rendering.
ASIC will be using high-powered spotlights to light up the L.A. sky for every mile of the race’s route which spans Dodger Stadium to Santa Monica. The light show will kick off this Friday at 8:40PM and stay lit until 10:15PM.
What does it take to light up this 26.2 mile run? Here’s the stats: 124 spotlights (said to be as bright as 29,000 light bulbs!), 26 trucks for set up, 20 different locations, and 85 volunteers.
ASIC recommends taking in the site from a high vantage point. With the longer Spring days and the spotlights it just might be bright enough for an evening hike to Runyon Canyon, any takers? A tall building in DTLA, maybe with roof top drinks, will also do!
At least this year, the traffic jam the marathon creates just might be worth it!
