There is usually no shortage of things to do on a Saturday in LA, but of course how do you chose? Lucky for me, the Los Angeles Food and Wine event made that choice relatively simple. Saturday August 28, 2016 I headed over to The Barker Hanger in Santa Monica for great food, great wine, and great fun!
It was the most spectacular opportunity to enjoy over 200 wines from some of the world’s most prestigious wineries. 25 Celebrity Chefs showcased their culinary skills and provide delicious and decadent tasting samples of their cuisine. During this remarkable strolling event I had access to book signings and photo sessions wit h some of the weekend’s biggest chef celebrities.
Notable chefs here: Hugh Acheson, Stephanie Izard (Chicago’s Girl & the Goat), Charles Phan (The Slanted Door), George Mendes (NYC’s Aldea), and Antonia Lofaso (Scopa).
The food lineup’s definitely really solid but the wine that was poured here was what really caught my attention. 30 venders with over dozens of winemakers really made this event a connoisseurs dream. There were wines from France, Spain, Chile, Italy, South Africa, New Zealand and of course all over California’s various wine regions all under one roof.
While the tickets cost $125 for general admission and $175 for VIP admission (admitted an hour early, so noblines) seems lofty, it was easy to get your money out of the event. The great space at Barker Hanger never made it feel overcrowded and the lines moved relatively quickly.
Stella Artois and Hendricks Gin also made appearances in my opinion was the 2 most fantastic and curious booths; with lots of great photo opportunities to be had to make all of your friends jealous. Lucky for you if you missed the event there are still more today to check out.
