Last Minute Labor Day Weekend Plans

It’s LA, we understamd how holidays can runaway from you and then appear suddenly. Which is why we’ve curated a last minute Labor Day Weekend guide, if you’re on the hunt for plans.

It’s Labor Day weekend, don’t be shy, and head down to San Pedro to catch the US Navy as they celebrate Fleet Week in LA. Fleet week includes an array of ship tours, military displays, flyovers, and even a kids STEM expo if you have little ones. You can also join the annual Conquer the Bridge 5.3 mile run / walk over the Vincent Thomas Bridge on Labor Day (Monday if you’re unclear). Fleek will will also be a host to a variety of activities like a 5 on 5 basketball tournament, and obstacle courses. And our personal favorite event a cook off between the Navy, Marine and Coast Gaurd branches of the military.

The Made in LA Music Festival has arrived as of Saturday August 31st as well. You can head out to Atwater Village to catch the jams. The two day block party is going to feature the likes of the Cold War Kids, Phantom Planet and more. You’ll also be able to catch food vendors, art, and more at the festival. This is one event you’re likely to see our editor meandering. Let us know if you pop by.

Another trip down to Long Beach kicking off on Satuday August 31st is the Long Beach Greek festival. Celebrate all things Greek this labor day. From the food, music, and overall culture, this event is poised to be a blast. We’d go just for the Greek sweets like loukoumades.

Need a plan for Sunday? Kick off September first in downtown LA with a full on pig roast Luau. The arts distrcit brewery has teamed up with Maui Brewing Co. to serve a complimentary lunch (3pm) with the purchase of a pint. Feel free to rock your best Hawaiian shirt.

Need a bit more action to celebrate your day off of work? Head to Mt. Baldy on Monday September 2nd. It’s the annual Mt. Baldy run to the top. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate being in SoCal than by running to the top of Mt. Baldy while cheering for your day off work. The vistas are beautiful and the day is sure to be bright and sunny.

Happy Labor Day! Let us know what adventures you decide on.
