LEE PACE – MAN OF MYSTERY

Those who watched Pushing Daisies (ABC, Oct. ’07- June ’09) couldn’t help but fall for Lee Pace and his adorable Ned, the pie-maker with the magic touch who could bring anyone- including the love of his life (Anna Friel)- back from the dead. This gift of course came with some deadly consequences which made for mischief on this detective style who-dunnit- dramedy. Since then, however, it seemed like our beloved Pace did a bit of a disappearing act himself…

Albeit a few scattered performances in films like A Single Man, When in Rome, Marmaduke, and Ceremony.

Much like his Pushing Daisies co-star and well-known Broadway star Kristen Chenoweth, Pace decided to take to the stage. Pace’s career originally began on stage in off-Broadway productions but next month marks his Broadway debut in The Normal Heart.

Pace will play Bruce Niles alongside fellow TV star Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) in this heart-wrenching story about the AIDS crisis in New York City in the early ‘80s.  The play will run from late April through the second week in July at the Golden Theater in NYC.

Then it’s back to the big screen! For all you Twilight series lovers, Pace will be playing the role of Garrett in the upcoming Breaking Dawn: Part 1 & 2, not to mention it was just announced that Pace has been cast as the Elf King in the new Hobbit film by Peter Jackson. Seems these mysterious roles do not elude him.

It’s clear this under-the-radar actor has certainly been keeping a steady pace for 2011 and I’d pretty sure his performances will have audiences quickly back under his spell.
