Iconic movie ‘Legally Blonde,’ has cast a young Elle Woods for the upcoming revival titled, ‘Elle.’
Reese Witherspoon’s production company, Hello Sunshine, will be joining forces with Amazon MGM Studios to produce the show. This new series will feature the high school version of Elle Woods before Delta Nu, Warner, and Harvard Law.
Recently, Witherspoon made an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,’ and opened up about being inspired to create the series after watching the Adams Family spinoff, ‘Wednesday.’
Witherspoon explains to Fallon that after watching Jenna Ortega’s brilliant rendition of young Wednesday she thought, “We should do Elle Woods in high school,’ because I wanted to see who she was before college, before law school. I started having all these ideas, and these amazing writers came up with a great pitch and now Amazon is making the show and it’s called Elle.”
Witherspoon announced the development of the series over Instagram on May 14th, 2024 and said, “Before she became the most famous Gemini Vegetarian to graduate from Harvard Law, she was just a regular ‘90s high school girl. And all of you are going to get to know her next year on [prime video].”
This past week on February 13th, Witherspoon came to Instagram with a video to announce the actress who will be playing the younger version of the beloved character, Lexi Minetree. “Allow me to introduce you to the new Elle Woods,” she says.
The video features a heartfelt moment between Minetree and Witherspoon, where Witherspoon gets to tell the young actress herself that she will be the next Elle Woods.
Minetree came to Instagram to express her gratitude and said, “my brain is going nuts over here I don’t even know where to begin…Thank you to my family, friends, and reps who believe in me and my silly lil dreams.”
Production for the series will start in March, and will stream on Amazon Prime Video, come the release date.
