Lifestyle Brands and Services Are Actively Applying Change, Like HeyDay

HeyDay is a small business with three locations across Los Angeles. In light of current events they have issues information to let their clients and employees know how they are actively supporting black brands.

In this time of change it is important that our words also match our actions. We love small businesses and creating a blooming local economy here in Los Angeles, which is why HeyDay’s pledge of action is so important. Here is what they had to say:

Undoubtedly, and unequivocally,
Black Lives Matter.

To reiterate, we are outraged and heartbroken by the murders of George Floyd, Tony McDade, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and far too many more going back far too many years. We stand in solidarity with the fight against the centuries of white supremacy, institutional racism, and systemic oppression of the Black community.

However, we know that these words alone do not make for tangible action, and there is so much work to be done. As a team, we pledge to continuously examine, challenge, and expand the ways in which we use our platform to create positive change in our communities and in the skincare industry as a whole.

Specifically, within our industry, we are inspired
by Aurora James’#15PercentPledge. We are committed to (1) working towards stocking at least 15% of our shelves with Black-owned brands and (2) launching a program that donates both funding and consulting to Black entrepreneurs in the skincare industry who would benefit from additional resources. We have to start somewhere. More details to come by July.

We must make an individual and collective commitment to be actively anti-racist on a daily basis.
