Music Crush Monday: Billie Eilish

Billie Eilish is a 17 year old pop phenomenon. Her dark and moody music leaves you wanting more, and her cool girl aesthetic doesn’t hurt her vibe either. Can we be friends and have deep conversations?

If you haven’t heard of Billie Eilish, gather round we have a treat for you. And if you have, check out what Billie has been up to. First of she’s dropped her brand new album this week. If you think this song is fire, just wait until you get the full album in your clutches. The new album is aptly titled: “When we all fall asleep, where do we all go?” Whimsical and questioning just like Billie Eilish we’d expect nothing less.

We took a listen to her full album and came away with these thoughts, The quieter moments of “When We Fall Asleep” nod more to Eilish’s past, unlike the macabre tone you’ll find in “bury a friend”. Much like her first EP, 2017’s “Don’t Smile at Me”, they skew glum instead of macabre. “wish you were gay” spotlights Eilish’s vocals, which deserved better than being spackled with canned studio laughter and self-involved lyrics in the lamentable lineage of Katy Perry’s oldie “Ur So Gay.” Minimalist, mournful piano ballads like “listen before I go” and “when the party’s over” further prove her vocal talents amid her larger pop sucess with the masses. Let us know your thoughts on Billie’s album. We love it and hope you do too!
