Music Crush Monday: Calvin Harris

Calvin Harris raised us millenials, and the man rocked on well past the 1am curfew with his impressive set at Coachella.

Playing late into the night Calvin Harris delivered fan favorite Ellie Goulding as part of his Coachella set. Calvin Harris is a force in music festival performances. He is perhaps the preeminent pop DJ who has already made a spot for himself in festival history. The crowd gleefully belted out the lyrics to Calvin’s classics like “Summer” and “This Is What You Came For.”  The start of this set was far from people just there for the gram as the crowd enthusiastically sang along to his songs. Like a fever dream in a way of days gone by it was a set that made us feel that pre-pandemic magic of enjoying nights of wild abandon amongst music on a slighty warm desert night. Gone was worry, and in was a true basking of the moment. Nearly everyone in sight was not only belting the lyrics, but rapturously throwing up their hands at every opportunity they had. Fun was back. That was what Calvin Harris delivered at Coachella. Something we all knew we wanted and were missing. Thanks Calvin for the solid memories and for surprising us all with Ellie Goulding.
