Music Crush Monday: Jordan Mosley
Jordan Mosley is the type of indie musician we love encountering. His music video Protector is powerful with a moving message that is sure to bring you to tears.
We caught up with the emerging muscian Jordan Mosley himself to ask him about his inspiration behind Protector and he gave us this insight:
Well, there is line that runs deep into the inspiration for Protector but I can give you a piece of it. At the time when this song came about, I was a brand new dad and my heart was feeling heavy. But not in a sad kind of way but more of a “feeling deeply” kind of way. Sometimes overwhelmingly so. My perspective changed to a more protective frame of mind and all the happenings of the world just reenforced that way of thinking. Since writing the song, I’ve had three more kids, so with more kids and increasingly crazy things happening in this world, that frame of mind has only increased as well. Sadly, there is a growing idea that relationships are second to aspirations: Get a career first- then get your person…or don’t. I think a big part of that concept has come from absentee fathers and the degradation of family in today’s culture. It’s a very “ME” generation. But I think it’s a reactive attitude to that degradation of family. The video for the song not only shows the power of a strong and present father, but the true power of family. Real projection of love protects. It protects the loved, it protects the lover, and it protects the developments of that love. At all costs, always.
