Music Crush Monday: Sophie Ellis-Bextor

Coming of off the viewing high that is Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn, we knew there could only be one artist for this week’s Music Crush Monday. The vintage single by Sophie Ellis-Bextor ‘Murder on the Dancefloor’ is having a renaissance.

‘Murder on the Dancefloor” originally dropped on the 3rd of December 2001. We’d called it a bop today. ‘Murder on the Dancefloor,’ is a great song with drums, violins, guitars and wonderfull singing by Sophie. Despite its macabre lyrics the song makes you want to get up and dance all night. Or perhaps because of the lyrics. There is something so beautifully violent about the lyrics, and the way Emerald Fennell paired it with her eye popping story in Saltburn is nothing short of pure genius. Who knew a movie sountrack would bring such a revival to this gem of pop music.
