Music Crush Monday: The Beatles

Little known fact for this Music Crush Monday…is that The Beatles song “Blackbird” was inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King, for Civil Rights.

“Blackbird” was released in 1968 and highlights the struggles of being held back, but continuing on. The songwriters on this gem were none other than Paul McCartney and John Lennon, the absolute legends that they are. Speaking of legends, Dr. King was an absolute legend. The man inspired millions, and not just in the U.S. His words and the message he preached continues to reach millions today. As we honor him, we felt The Beatles with their long lasting music effect were a great pairing to showcase next to another icon. The band was very civil minded, and their lyrics no doubt helped to change hearts and minds, much like Dr. King’s ” I Have a Dream” speech continues to inspire millions of hearts and minds today.

We also have a version of Sir Paul McCartney singing the song live. Enjoy:
