New York Fashion week saw the runways filled with lush and fresh designs pointing us where style is heading in the forseeable future. It’s the extravaganza of America’s creme de la creme fashion community, and it did not disappoint.
During a Monday show in the Plaza Hotel ballroom, “Carolina Herrera breathed spring back to life,” wrote The Associated Press. Designer Wes Gordon, who took over the brand in 2018, explained that the show was inspired by one of his favorite childhood novels, “The Secret Garden,” by Frances Hodgson Burnett. The designs included a variety of floral patterns with “lots of different scales and colorways,” Gordon noted, he “views this collection as a garden.”
Rain or shine, the show must go on! Tommy Hilfiger’s celebrity attendees “braved the rain” to see the designer’s Andy Warhol-inspired clothing pieces. This is the Tommy Hilfiger brand’s first return to NYFW in three years. His show also featured a music performance by Travis Barker who rocked out on the drums as the models took to the runway.
Vogue celebrated 130 years of their creation with Vogue World. The entire show is available below (for now).
This is a first in NYFW events, Vice President Kamala Harris’ stepdaughter, Ella Emhoff, also had a moment in the spotlight at the Prabal Gurung show, according to People, walking in a sheer scarf top just days after being named a Harper’s Bazaar “icon.” Never has someone so closely tied to the White House entered the upper echelons of fashion royalty like she has.
Tennis champion Serena Williams conquered the show while opening the Vogue World runway, Lil Nas X made his NYFW debut at the Coach show, and Sarah Jessica Parker was seen sitting next to Kim Kardashian at the Fendi Show. Photographers may have had their eyes on Kim, but it was the Dame herself, Anna Wintour who skipped across the room to greet longtime friend, collaborator, and fellow fashion devotee Sarah Jessica Parker.
