We live for our book predictions here at the office. We’re excited to kick off this season’s ‘Page to Screen’ and hope you enjoy checking out these books as much as we enjoyed picking them!
Kicking off our list is the final installment in Sarah J. Maas’ highly anticipated Throne of Glass series: Kingdom of Ash. The last we heard of our heroine she was powerless and trapped inside a coffin.Yikes! With a two year wait since the last official installment (Okay we know Chaol’s book happened, but we all know we’ve been waiting for Aelin) this is one book sure to fly off the shelves. This dynamic series has it all, fantasy, adventure, politics, powerful women, mystery, romance, and even multicultural representation. Throne of Glass is currently an optioned property at Hulu. This has been out for awhile now, so we’re just waiting on the update. Sigh. We’re ready for this series to come to life already! In the meantime the final installment releases on October 23rd. * Long live the fire breathing bitch Queen.
We love a good Rom-Com. Josh and Hazel’s Guide to Not Dating is a great weekend read! Not only are the characters relatable and funny, it would make a perfect Netflix film. We don’t know what the streaming giant is up to, but after it’s string of Rom-Com successes this should defiantly be on their radar! This book came out September 2nd, which means you can run out and grab it now. Here is the background on this fun easy read:
Hazel Camille Bradford knows she’s a lot to take—and frankly, most men aren’t up to the challenge. If her army of pets and thrill for the absurd don’t send them running, her lack of filter means she’ll say exactly the wrong thing in a delicate moment. Their loss. She’s a good soul in search of honest fun. Josh Im has known Hazel since college, where her zany playfulness proved completely incompatible with his mellow restraint. From the first night they met—when she gracelessly threw up on his shoes—to when she sent him an unintelligible email while in a post-surgical haze, Josh has always thought of Hazel more as a spectacle than a peer. But now, ten years later, after a cheating girlfriend has turned his life upside down, going out with Hazel is a breath of fresh air. Comedy writing duo Christina Lauren will leave you laughing at the conclusion of this light-hearted tale.
Next on our reading list for fall is, My Favorite Half-Night Stand. Christina Lauren are an excellent writing duo! With recent female centric hits like Bridesmaids, Girls Trip, I Feel Pretty, and Snatched….My Favorite Half-Night Stand shouldn’t be far behind in the feature film world. This hilarious book captures the painful realities of online dating. And who doesn’t want a little more laughter in their lives? We’d love to see this gem hit the big screen.
R.A. Salvatore is a prolific Scifi writer and fans of his work should be excited for Timeless. Finally, witness the origin of his nefarious / infamous dark elf Drizzt. Timeless is sure to become a fast fan favorite. His underdark is seen through the eyes of Zaknafein and Jaraxle who’re later joined by Drizzt. This story centers on the pre-history of all your favorite characters from his “modern” Forgotten Realms series. With such detail this book and series would do very well on Scifi. With hits like Krypton showing off the networks ability to pull off sinister worlds and compelling storytelling, Timeless seems like a perfect fit for the scifi/fantasy giant. You can snag a copy of Timeless now.
Next on our list is a Russian hit: Vita Nostra. This novel would be perfect for Starz!. With the success of Outlander we feel Vita Nostra would be a perfect compliment to the network’s line-up. Imagine a world where magic is real, but your failures constitute punishment for your family. Fans of Lev Grossman’s The Magicians are sure to fall in love with this series! Vita Nostra is due out this November 13th, and it is as dark as it is exciting. Our heroine Sasha thinks herself a normal girl until her meeting with Farit. One questionable task completed, with a gold coin in her hand leads to more and more until she must report to The Institute of Special Technologies, coins in hand….of course. We couldn’t put this dark and fascinating tale down, and we’re sure you won’t be able to either.
