There’s no hotter ticket in LA for a music junkie than an intimate show with a buzzing band at an amazing venue. tUnEyArDs made their way to LA this week to headline at The Wiltern, but not before popping into one of LA hottest new studios and venue, Sonos Studio.

It’s all in the name. If you’re going to play anywhere that has Sonos attached to it, the sound is going to be incredible. Sonos perfected the sound quality and vibe at their La Brea studio, and the ultimate test may have been having tUnEyArDs do what they do.

tUnEyArDs is Merrill Garbus’ New England brainchild which essentially brings a visually abstract, live performance to the stage accompanied by a combination of sounds you’d never think would mix together to bring you the music that is tUnEyArDs. Know for creating drum loops on the spot, while layering these with a ukulele, and vocals, Garbus never misses a cue; or breaks character for that matter.

Comfortably packed from wall to wall, fans and music junkies couldn’t look away. What may characterized by some (or just me) as a combination of “Of Montreal” meets “The Dirty Projectors”, tUnEyArDs definitely brings something new to the table while tapping into an under-saturated part of the music world. In a nutshell, the band has legs, and headlining a packed house at The Wiltern is no easy feat.

Garbus addressed the audience in between songs to thank everyone for getting them played over 4,000,000 times on Pandora and expressed her excitement about being able to share her newest album “Nikki Nack” with her fans. tUnEyArDs continues their tour heading up to Oakland in Northern California, continuing up the West Coast and then tackles Japan and Europe through March. Definitely worth a listen, but if you have a chance to see them, it’s a completely different experience.Tuneyards_SonosStudios_Pandora
